🇷🇺🇻🇪 On September 26, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Yván Gil held a meeting on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

During the talks, the Parties noted the convergence of Russia’s and Venezuela’s approaches on the majority of issues on the current global agenda and outlined further steps to deepen foreign policy coordination across multilateral platforms, in particular within the Group of Friends in Defence of the Charter of the United Nations.

🤝 Sergey Lavrov emphasised the categorical inadmissibility of using coercive measures against sovereign states as instruments of foreign policy. He expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan leadership in the face of growing external threats and attempts to interfere in internal affairs and confirmed full support for Caracas’ efforts to defend national sovereignty.

The Ministers highlighted the dynamic development of the strategic partnership between Moscow and Caracas, agreeing to continue promoting its comprehensive strengthening, with a focus on deepening political dialogue, expanding trade, economic, investment, scientific and technological ties, as well as broadening cultural, humanitarian and educational exchanges.
