🗓 On September 24, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly.

During discussions concerning the OSCE’s activities in light of Switzerland’s forthcoming chairship of the Organisation in 2026, the Russian Side set out in detail its principled assessments regarding the causes of the OSCE’s lamentable state of affairs and the degradation of its role in ensuring security and cooperation.

Selected pressing international issues were also examined, including the settlement of the Ukraine conflict.

❗️ The Russian Side emphasised that Switzerland has lost its standing as a trusted neutral mediator. It was noted that the unfriendly policy pursued by the Confederation’s authorities towards Russia cannot but be taken into consideration when shaping Russia’s policy vis-à-vis Switzerland.
