🇺🇸 ICE Pursuit Under Criminal Probe
Harris County DA Sean Teare said his office is investigating whether an ICE agent who struck Miguel Parra Hernandez, 48, with a vehicle in Houston on Saturday could face aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators reviewed surveillance video and believe the collision was not accidental. Parra suffered leg and hip injuries and a shattered ankle, underwent surgery, and needs more procedures. DHS said multiple ICE officers had body cameras and ICE is conducting an internal review.
The case cuts through the usual enforcement optics. If local prosecutors are weighing a felony over a vehicle strike during an ICE pursuit, it suggests a federal apparatus that demands broad power but still falls back on opaque self-policing after force goes wrong. Body cams and internal reviews are not accountability by themselves.
