Vi ho domandato:
“Chi scagliera' la prima pietra?".
Quando stai per puntare un dito accusatorio contro uno dei tuoi fratelli o sorelle, che si e' comportato male nei tuoi confronti o in quelli di qualcuno che ti e' caro, chiediti:
“Come posso giudicare?
Come posso conoscere il luogo di dolore e di non amore da cui e' scaturito questo atto?
Come faccio a saperlo, se non attraverso la profondita' del mio dolore e della mia separazione?".
E se riuscirai a trovarti in quello stesso luogo, invece che in qualche falso luogo di superiorita' morale, guarderai con compassione sia la vittima che il carnefice: entrambi provano dolore.
Qualunque sia la prevaricazione o il maltrattamento che hai subito nella tua vita, alla fine deve essere perdonato.
Una volta perdonato, non sara' piu' la prima cosa nella tua mente.
Lascia andare l'umiliazione.
Prima di tutto, perdona te stesso.
Quindi perdona chi ti ha trattato male.
Non cercare di fare il giro nel senso opposto:
non puoi estendere il tuo perdono a qualcun altro, se prima non l'hai concesso a te stesso.

I asked:
"Who will cast the first stone?"
When you are about to point an accusing finger at one of your brothers or sisters who has misbehaved toward you or someone dear to you, ask yourself:
"How can I judge?
How can I know the place of pain and unlove from which this act sprang?
How do I know except through the depth of my own pain and separation?"
And if you can find yourself in that same place, instead of in some false place of moral superiority, you will look with compassion at both victim and perpetrator: both feel pain.
Whatever prevarication or mistreatment you have suffered in your life must eventually be forgiven.
Once forgiven, it will no longer be the first thing on your mind.
Let go of the humiliation.
First of all, forgive yourself.
Then forgive those who treated you badly.
Don't try to go the other way around:
you cannot extend your forgiveness to someone else if you have not first granted it to yourself.
