⚡️🇮🇷🇺🇸 — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi suggested in private talks in New York that Tehran was willing to restore nuclear inspectors’ access to bombed facilities in exchange for sanctions relief, according to diplomats familiar with the discussions; the proposal was raised with European and Middle Eastern diplomats during the annual UN General Assembly, which ended earlier this week, and could help break the deadlock in talks with the United States. — Bloomberg
Reporting on the matter, journalist Barak Ravid via N12 points out that this is not a genuine concession. Ravid notes that Iran had already made the exact same commitment during negotiations in Switzerland back in June—following an easing of sanctions—but ultimately failed to follow through.
➡️ However, an informed Iranian source told IRNA that Bloomberg’s report about an Iranian nuclear proposal to the US side was «absolutely false», stressing: «Essentially, no discussion of the nuclear issue was raised in the talks held with the mediators.»
