🇨🇦 Half of Canadians say it's hard to stay friends with people who disagree on international conflicts: poll

A country that cannot hold a friendship over wars thousands of miles away is not diverse, mature, or cohesive. It is atomized. The poll reported that 52 per cent of Canadians think it is getting harder for people with differing views on major international conflicts to remain friends, while just 21 per cent say it is not. That is what happens when politics becomes identity, social media becomes emotional blackmail, and every imported conflict is treated like a domestic loyalty test.

The real story is sovereignty decay. Canada is supposed to be held together by Canadian interests, not permanently fractured by Russia-Ukraine, Iran and Western countries, or Israelis and Palestinians. But under the usual elite management model, there is no common civic core left to absorb disagreement. Just therapeutic jargon about thoughtful conversations while trust collapses in plain sight. If even language groups now share the same polarization, congratulations: the one national consensus the managerial class managed to build is division.
