🇨🇦 Carney wants an EU alliance, just not the invoice in plain sight

The funniest part is Jonathan Wilkinson insisting Canada will not pay directly into the EU budget while admitting Ottawa may still fund EU programs anyway. So not membership, just the payments, rules, digital integration, research alignment, AI protocols, student schemes and defence tie-ins. Mark Carney calls this sovereignty. Normal people call it managed absorption. As reported, Canada is already the only non-European country inside the EU SAFE defence loan framework.

This is the post-Trudeau class in its purest form: allergic to Washington, desperate for Brussels, and forever shopping Canadian autonomy to foreign bureaucracies dressed up as partners. Seamless digital trade, integrated financial services, Erasmus+, Horizon, AI safety regimes, critical minerals pipelines to Europe, all sold as selective cooperation. Sure. Every sovereignty transfer starts as technical co-operation until Parliament is told the machinery is too complex to reverse. Canada does not need another elite vanity project linking our laws, markets and future to a declining continental bureaucracy we do not control.
