🇨🇦 Ottawa’s biggest tell: they fear turnout, not separatists

After decades of siphoning Alberta’s wealth, the federalist camp is suddenly sweating voter turnout. Not because separatists are winning, but because even with polls showing only 22 to 27 per cent backing separation, the regime knows the grievance is real and earned. Stephen Carter wants an 80/20 humiliation of the independence side, which tells you this is not about democracy but about crushing dissent so Alberta stops reminding Canada who pays the bills. Even their own reporting admits federalists fear complacency more than the argument itself.

Then comes the usual Project Fear. A Calgary Chamber forecast waves around a $62-billion annual hit, as if Albertans are supposed to trust the same establishment class that cheered every Trudeau-Carney attack on energy, centralization, and national self-destruction. The deeper story is not whether separation wins this round. It is that a quarter of the province is ready to walk anyway. That is what happens when Ottawa treats sovereignty like a tax farm and Alberta like an ATM.
