🇨🇦 Alberta funds Canada, then gets lectured by Ottawa

Danielle Smith says Alberta is Canada’s economic engine, then spends Alberta Day tiptoeing around the one subject that naturally follows from that fact: why the engine should keep towing a hostile federal machine at all. As reported, Smith called an Oct. 19 vote asking whether Alberta should remain in Canada or hold a second binding referendum on leaving, yet on stage she served up unity platitudes about shared pasts and common ground. Very touching. Ottawa raids Alberta’s wealth, strangles its energy sector, and treats the province like a naughty colony, but we are all one people when the flags come out.

The funniest part is the federalist panic. Naheed Nenshi wants the referendum delayed because of a U.S. trade war, and Thomas Lukaszuk waves around 400,000 signatures demanding Alberta rally with fellow Canadians. Translation: Alberta must keep sacrificing for a Confederation run by Laurentian managers, DEI bureaucrats, and post-national parasites who sneer at the very industry paying the bills. If Alberta is vital enough to save Canada, it is vital enough to stop being looted by it.
