In the West Bank, some Israeli settlers are using sheep to drive out Palestinian communities.

The tactic: Send sheep to graze in Palestinian communities, then claim the area because their sheep are there. Settlers have even pushed sheep into people’s yards.

The settlers say they have a biblical right to this land.

In the West Bank, some of the violence against Palestinians is being carried out by young Israeli shepherds known as Hilltop Youth, who come for a sense of adventure and are told they’re on a God-given mission to redeem the land.

Every time members of one Palestinian family try to get near their house in the West Bank, they say young Israeli settlers from the outpost rush down to beat them up with wooden sticks.

Hassan Faraj says the settlers killed his cousin.

The Israeli settlers claim this is their biblical homeland.

The Trump administration has called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address the violence in the West Bank.

Netanyahu has condemned it, but the Israeli government has poured tens of millions of dollars into expanding the sheep farms, arming them and giving them American-made off-roaders.

“I am bothered by the fact that America's turning on us, and we're turning on America. … I see it as losing a friendship,” says Mordehai Minster, who co-founded a sheep farm in the West Bank.

“But Israel will find other allies,” he says.

A Palestinian family that has held the deed to this West Bank land for generations says a group of about 20 Israeli settlers moved onto the property and set up a tent in March.

“They started to behave that they are the owners of everything,” Hassan Faraj tells 60 Minutes.
