📚 China through the eyes of a brilliant Tajik diplomat
📚The Russian publishing house Ves Mir has published Rashid Alimov's book "The Silence of Two Giants: A Chinese Notebook of a Tajik Diplomat" in Russian and Chinese.
🇹🇯 The author represented Tajikistan in China as ambassador from 2005 to 2015, and served as Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization from 2016 to 2018. Over the years, he collected numerous observations that formed the basis of an essay on Chinese history, culture, and everyday life.
💋 Dragons on the eaves of Beijing temples, the mountain roads of Tibet, ancient traditions, and chance encounters—each story becomes an opportunity to take a closer look at the country and its people. Even a mundane breakfast proves to be a keeper of historical memory: by telling the story of fried strips of youtiao dough, Alimov introduces readers to a tale of loyalty and betrayal.
🇨🇳 The book is complemented by illustrations by Chinese artist Feng Yishu, who combines traditional national painting with a contemporary artistic vision.
🤝 A Tajik author, a Russian publisher, and a Chinese artist—representatives of three cultures came together to create this book. Its unifying theme is attention to others and respect for their traditions.
