Following the closure of the Bab el-Mandeb by Houthi forces, Saudi Arabia has sought to bypass the blockade by exporting energy through the Suez Canal. By targeting LNG tankers at ports along the Suez Canal, the IRGC aimed to demonstrate that Iran has the capability to disrupt any alternative export route. The message is that if the Suez Canal is used to bypass the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab to export energy to global markets, it could also become a target, just like the Bab el-Mandeb and the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's objective is to maintain maximum pressure on the global energy market by preventing any alternative route from bypassing a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Closing the Bab el-Mandeb and the Suez Canal alongside the Strait of Hormuz could disrupt approximately 35% to 40% of global energy flows, significantly impacting the New World Order.
