What does "heritage language" mean?
You might wonder about the "heritage language" term, like, what it means? Heritage language is a language of your close ancestry (not 500+ years ago), which you don't speak. Some serious dudes who work in a linguistic sphere may object "it is a language of your grandparents/parents they haven't taught you" and they will be right to some extent as this definition also fits the term, but in more broad sense, as I said before, it can also mean a cultural spirital connection to a language of your ancestors
