Recently I've stumbled upon the summary of the interview with Louis von Ahn (co-founder of the notorious Duolingo company) posted on Habr and I got words to spill. In this interview they mostly discussed how AI tool is used in Duolingo and the app audience has gotten pretty controversial opinion regarding official words.
I have been around online linguistic communities for a while, among members of them were a plenty of the Duolingo users and those users periodically post task issues that ruin the entire experience. Sometimes tasks seem off or simply don't accept right answers. If before all that buzz AI boom you could say it's merely a human factor, but now the number of these odd sentences has grown geometrically. Remarkably, Duolingo company decided to disregard the support system for regular learners without premium and prefered ones who had the paid subscription.

Duolingo administration also predicted that number of human translators is going to significantly reduce, as they shall be replaced by AI bots. As for me, the statement mentioned above is not absolutely true, but partly. It's pretty noticeable that translators for English language and perhaps a few other popular ones already are not in demand, as other professionals already have taken a spot and more people been speaking English better due to the globalisation and internet spread. Good translators of less popular languages still will be in need, as AI works with them worse. I'm not talking about endangered languages lol.

In conclusion, AI is undoubtedly a nice tool that can help you with your routine or studies, but you should not fully rely on it, as in some spheres it misinforms more than helps.
