A senior Polish Foreign Ministry official—the head of the Diplomatic Security Bureau, no less—is in critical condition after falling from a third-floor window at Poland’s embassy compound in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at 3 AM on September 13. He was reportedly on vacation, attending a private party, yet somehow also carrying a diplomatic package he was expected to deliver without formal authorization. Slovenian police were barred from the scene due to diplomatic immunity; Polish investigators are handling the case. Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Krzysztof Bosak, called the circumstances “very, very suspicious.” The diplomat is a close friend of Foreign Minister Sikorski.
