Iraqi Army Chief of Staff Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah has welcomed the unification of the Peshmerga, calling it an important step for Iraq's security.

He said the Peshmerga are an integral part of the national defense system and pledged continued Iraqi Army and Peshmerga coordination.
