📌 Tehran, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says Iran is well-prepared to help resolve issues between Saudi Arabia and Yemen through peaceful means, stressing that the Islamic Republic remains steadfast in its principled position on the Yemen issue.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Baqaei outlined Iran’s position on the Saudi-Yemen conflict, calling for dialogue between the two sides to resolve their differences through diplomacy.
The spokesperson said Iran has always been ready to leverage its good offices to help end the conflict and remains prepared to use all its capabilities for this purpose if requested by the two sides.
Referring to the history of the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, Baqaei said developments over the past 12 years have shown that foreign intervention, a military approach and the blockade are not solutions to the Yemen crisis.
The official noted that the Yemeni people have endured the country’s air and sea blockade for more than a decade, showing remarkable patience in facing the consequences of an unjust blockade designed by actors from outside the region, particularly Britain and the United States.
Baqaei added that regional countries and the Muslim world are expected to make serious efforts to bring an end to the situation.
Commenting on a claim by a Saudi Foreign Ministry official that Iran had encouraged Yemenis to attack Saudi Arabia, the spokesperson rejected any alleged Iranian role in Yemeni operations.
Baqaei further stressed that Yemen’s armed forces act based on their own interests and assessments, saying such claims are not credible to those familiar with Iran’s relations with its allies and friends.
Iran does not consider an escalation of tensions to be in the interest of any side, he added.
