📌 Shiraz, IRNA – Hossein Jaberi-Ansari, the CEO of the Islamic Republic News Agency, who has traveled to Iran’s southern Fars Province, has visited the sites and areas in the city of Lamerd that were damaged in the recent US-Israeli bombing campaign.
Jaberi-Ansari arrived in Lamerd on Tuesday morning and inspected a section of the city after visiting the central cemetery to pay homage to the martyrs of the “Ramadan War.”
He was accompanied by Seyyed Mousa Mousavi, the parliamentary representative for Mehr and Lamerd; Ali Alizadeh, the governor of Lamerd; and several local officials.
On the first day of the second US-Israeli-imposed war on February 28 this year, four locations in Lamerd — including a sports hall, two residential areas, and a hall adjacent to a school — were targeted by enemy missiles, resulting in the martyrdom of 21 people and leaving over 100 others injured, a number of them women and children.
Four missiles were said to be used in the attack, releasing 720,000 tungsten pellets upon impact. This kind of weapon is described by experts as being designed for mass casualties. The attack sparked condemnations from many countries.
Other items on the agenda of the IRNA CEO’s visit to the province include meeting with the families of martyrs in Lamerd; visiting war-hit areas of Larestan; attending the Lar Administrative Council meeting; visiting the Shiraz International Expo; participating in the Fars Information Council; and meeting with journalists and veteran staff of IRNA.
