📌 London, IRNA - Iran’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Seyyed Ali Mousavi, has categorically rejected allegations regarding Tehran’s role in the incident at the Fairford military base and urged the British government to refrain from making unfounded accusations.
During a meeting on Monday with Stephen Doughty, the UK’s Minister of State for the Middle East, at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Mousavi reiterated that Iran had no involvement whatsoever in the matter and called on London to present any evidence it claims to possess.
Mousavi stressed the need to avoid unsubstantiated accusations, recalling that the Islamic Republic had previously urged the British government to refrain from hasty positions and unproven claims against Tehran.
He also reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to cooperate with relevant institutions in both countries within the framework of an investigation into the incident, noting that Tehran had already expressed this willingness.
The ambassador underscored Iran’s commitment to its international obligations under international law, stating that all countries must adhere to their international commitments, including respect for national sovereignty, the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of others, and the prohibition of military aggression.
The meeting comes amid recent claims by British officials regarding Iran’s alleged role in the Fairford case. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham on Monday repeated previous allegations in the House of Commons without providing public evidence and announced further sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to reports, the UK’s Counter-Terrorism Police investigation into the Sept. 27 incident is ongoing, and all seven individuals arrested in connection with the case have been released on bail.
UK counter-terrorism police had also previously confirmed that no improvised explosive devices were found during their examination of vehicles linked to the incident.
