📌 Tehran, IRNA - Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni announced an agreement to draft two cooperation documents between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, saying his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev focused on mechanisms for implementing agreements reached between the two countries.
Speaking after the meeting in Baku, Momeni said on Monday that the talks covered the implementation of agreements reached during a meeting between the Iranian and Azerbaijani presidents in Turkmenistan, and that the Azerbaijani president issued the necessary orders to carry them out.
Officials responsible for following up on the agreements were also designated, he added.
Emphasizing the need to expand Tehran-Baku relations, Momeni said there are no restrictions on advancing ties between the two countries and that cooperation should be developed in all areas as much as possible.
He also announced plans to draft two cooperation documents — one between the interior ministries of Iran and Azerbaijan, and another between Iran’s Interior Ministry and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations — to increase interaction between the two sides.
Momeni noted that border crossings and trade-related issues were also discussed during the meeting.
