📌 Tehran, IRNA - The commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) warns that the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is “a red line” for the Islamic Republic, and that no extra-regional power can threaten, dominate, or interfere in the strategic waterway.
In a message marking IRGC Navy Day on Thursday, Major General Ahmad Vahidi said the IRGC Navy had forced an “aggressor fleet” to retreat from the Persian Gulf by blocking, managing, and controlling the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC chief described the waterway as “the vital artery of global energy and the strategic red line of Islamic Iran.”
Gen. Vahidi said the naval forces under his command had completed its “calendar of honors with courage and martyrdom” during the third American-Zionist imposed war, and warned that any threat would be met with a decisive response.
He said the IRGC Navy, in close coordination with the Iranian Army Navy, is equipped with precision-guided missiles, offensive drones, fast attack vessels, electronic warfare capabilities, and a coastal defense network, and is prepared to respond to any “miscalculation” by the enemy regarding unauthorized transits through waters under its management.
The general said the IRGC Navy’s strategy is “clear, principled, and unchangeable,” adding that protecting the Strait of Hormuz amounts to protecting Iran’s national interests, the security of the nation, and the country’s dignity.
He also paid tribute to Nader Mahdavi, an IRGC naval commander whose martyrdom on October 8, 1987 is commemorated on IRGC Navy Day, and to IRGC naval commanders Alireza Tangsiri and Behnam Rezaei.
Gen. Vahidi concluded by urging IRGC naval personnel to remain ready to defend Iran and the Strait of Hormuz “at any time and in any arena,” under the command of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.
