📌 Tehran, IRNA — President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for greater focus on solving people’s problems, saying social trust would not have deteriorated to its level if officials had worked to resolve difficulties instead of criticizing others.
Speaking at the 10th National Conference on Islamic Spiritual Health, Pezeshkian said his actions were solely intended to serve God and that his concern was being held accountable for his performance in office.
He said returning to innate nature, or fitrah, awakens values such as helping the oppressed, supporting the poor and rejecting injustice. These values, he stressed, must be reflected in conduct rather than merely expressed in words.
Pezeshkian said Iran has science, knowledge, and expertise but sometimes forgets that these capabilities should be used to ease people’s hardships. God has given people knowledge and skills so they can save others and become examples for society, he said.
Citing Martyr Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti’s views in his book Right and Wrong from the Quranic Perspective, the president said people should be judged by their actions, not their words. Honesty, service, fairness, truth-seeking, and helping others, he said, are expressions of Islam.
He warned that lying, slander, and failing to help people cannot be reconciled with such principles, regardless of claims, rhetoric, theories, or media platforms. Pezeshkian also acknowledged shortcomings and urged officials to focus on serving the people.
