📌 Tehran, IRNA — Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has criticized the French police’s violent suppression of protesters and called for respect for the fundamental rights and basic freedoms of protesting students.
Esmaeil Baqaei said that French officials, who describe Iranian security forces’ handling of armed terrorists trained by the Zionist regime as a human rights violation, do not tolerate even the smallest act of violence in peaceful gatherings against police and suppress the protesters with utmost violence.
Referring to reports published by French news agencies about the arrest of more than 2,000 protesters and their beating by police, the spokesperson called for an investigation into allegations that security forces used severe violence against demonstrators.
At the same time, Baghaei stressed the need to avoid violent behavior, damage to public and private property, and attacks on law enforcement officers by protesters.
