⌚️ Apple Watch misleads users about calories burned

📰 The frequency of errors in calorie counting averages 28%, and sometimes reaches even 80%.

💔 The gadget also unreliably tracks sleep, especially falling asleep and waking up, as trackers rely on heart rate and movement rather than brain activity.

🏃‍♂️ The researchers had no issues with heart rate and step tracking. For fitness watches, the margin of error is insignificant (4% and 8%).

📰 Bloomberg shares a huge text on WWDC25 updates

🔎 What else is new:

🎨 No round icons

Although there were rumors that app icons would be round like in watchOS and visionOS, their shape will remain virtually unchanged on iOS and iPadOS.

🧭 Phone, Safari, and Camera will be significantly redesigned

・The Phone app will get a new design that combines favorite contacts, recent calls, and voice messages into a single scrollable window, but users can switch back to the old interface using a button within the app itself;

・Safari has undergone a major visual overhaul, becoming more transparent and “glass-like” in the address bar;

・The Camera app will be updated with a focus on simplicity. Apple is rethinking its approach to new photo and video shooting modes.

🔍 The Preview app will be available on iOS and iPadOS for the first time and will be pre-installed

It will allow you to view, annotate, and edit PDF files. The interface of the mobile version of the app will be similar to the Mac version, and the home screen will be similar to Pages and Keynote, with a gallery of user documents.

Little by little, it seems that Apple will manage to surprise sophisticated users and inspired developers in just 2️⃣ days.

🍏 26 will be “one of the most dramatic software overhauls”

(as usual)

The redesign is one of the most talked-about updates at the upcoming WWDC. There are no questions about Apple's design – these are truly the most beautiful and stylish gadgets on the market (objectively speaking). But what about the internals?

🤪 No smarter Siri
That upgrade is running behind schedule and is not. supposed to be announced.

🔋 AI for battery life
Apple Intelligence to analyze how a person uses their device and make adjustments to conserve energy + a new indicator to the Lock Screen when your iPhone is charging that tells you exactly how long it will take to reach a full charge.

💬 Messages upgrades
・Real-time automatic translation of messages using AI;
・The ability to conduct polls in messages and group chats, as well as suggestions for automatic polls based on the context of the conversation, which AI will understand.

🔊 Wi-Fi upgrades
Easier to connect to public Wi-Fi networks.

🎧 AirPods upgrades
They are to get camera control, sleep detection, new gestures and more.

🤞 Will your @iPhone support iOS 26?

So far for iOS 26, the rumors are conflicted: some insiders say all devices that support iOS 18 will be able to update to iOS 26. This would include the iPhone XR and newer. But others suggest iOS 26 will drop support for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.
