📰 Mark Gurman writes, Apple's industrial design team has been quietly exploring a much bigger overhaul of the Apple Watch than usual and it could end up being as dramatic as the iPhone's jump to a foldable form factor.
Reported directions:
🩺 A more AI-driven wearable strategy overall, including a revamped Health app reportedly overseen by Eddy Cue, backed by new sensors — among them a long-rumored blood glucose monitor for future generations.
⌚️ Watches with different screen types and sizes are being considered. A round display has apparently been discussed too, though Gurman says it's unlikely to actually ship anytime soon.
📿 A screen-free wearable is also said to be under exploration — possibly something closer to a smart pendant.
💎 On top of that, Apple has reportedly weighed adding a premium tier above the Ultra and Hermès models, plus a cheaper option below the current SE.
ℹ️ None of 2026's models are expected to bring a design change – that's said to be saved for this year or next, possibly with a return of the ceramic case option. Expect new colors and bands instead, while the real focus this cycle is on health features, fitness tracking, and faster chips.
