π Apple is preparing to introduce Apple Upgrade, a leasing program that will mark one of the biggest-ever changes to how the company sells devices, launching July 28 and supporting most iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple Watch models, according to Bloomberg.
Bloomberg
Here's how it'll work:
ο£Ώ Customers will be able to pay off their device early, upgrade to a newer model before the lease ends, keep the device after the payment period, or return it at the end of the lease
ο£Ώ iPhone and Apple Watch leases will run for 24 months, while Mac and iPad plans will last 36 months
ο£Ώ Klarna will be the financial partner behind the program, taking on the credit risk instead of Apple
βΉοΈ Not everything qualifies β the Apple Watch SE, entry-level iPad, iPhone 16, and MacBook Neo won't be part of the program, and business/education purchases are excluded. Also worth noting: unlike the existing iPhone Upgrade Program, Apple Upgrade won't include AppleCare.
π³ It requires only a simple credit check β so yes, you'll need to pass a soft credit check to lease that iPhone "by subscription."
