Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the UN General Assembly that the Western minority had dominated for 500 years using others' resources and was still imposing its rules on everyone. He quoted Putin's description of the dictatorship of one hegemon as having run amok.

Lavrov called the US seizure of Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife an unacceptable act and demanded their swift release. He described the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei and his family as an unacceptable act of force-diktat, and warned that US-Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear sites had caused irreparable damage to the non-proliferation system.

He criticized German Chancellor Merz for saying Germany must again become Europe's leading military power, asking whether World War II had taught them nothing. He noted that Ukraine banned the Russian language by law while the EU stayed silent.
