Wikistrat, a private intelligence firm founded in Israel by Joel Zamel, had conflicting accounts about Khashoggi's involvement; Zamel met with Saudi officials including Ahmed al-Asiri, later accused of overseeing the operation against Khashoggi.
After leaving the White House, Jared Kushner's firm Affinity Partners received a $2 billion commitment from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. It bought 15% of an Israeli vehicle and credit business and became the largest shareholder in Israeli insurer Phoenix Financial, which provided services to West Bank settlement councils and invested in arms manufacturer Elbit Systems.
