Jewish comedian and writer @deansbomb , whose real name is Joshua Rinkoff, has been expelled from a north London writing group after revealing that he identifies as a Zionist.

According to Deansway, the group’s organizer, Ruby Sullivan, told him “I don’t think there is a place in the Offbeat Writers’ Group for you because of this,” despite his explaining that he also supports Palestinian rights and opposes actions that cause Palestinian suffering.

Deansway had participated in the group for six months before the dispute. He says the fallout also led to the cancellation of a ticketed literary event he organized.

UK Lawyers for Israel has threatened legal action, arguing that his exclusion constitutes discrimination under Britain’s Equality Act 2010 and demanding his reinstatement.

The venue denied discrimination, saying it canceled the event because several participants withdrew and communication broke down. Sullivan declined to comment.
