Some time ago, it was announced that Telegram had applied to ICANN for the .gram domain zone.
ICANN is a nonprofit organization that coordinates the global domain name system (DNS) and helps keep the Internet stable and secure.
If approved, users would be able to obtain second-level domains.
For example, @anime would get anime.gram, and @goat would get goat.gram.
🆚 Today, the messenger's application in the new round was made public. However, it turns out that Link Freedom Group Ltd. has also applied for the .gram domain extension.
Link Freedom Group Ltd is a Malta-based company specializing in top-level domains (TLDs). It has submitted over 300 applications for new domain extensions to ICANN in 2026.
🔨 This could mean that if both applications pass the required evaluations and remain in contention, ICANN may have to hold an auction for the .gram top-level domain.
