NFT usernames, such as @aaaa, @bbbb, @cccc, @dddd, and others, have been banned on Fragment. The full list is here.

🔎 This follows the U.S. DOJ freezing over $52M in crypto linked to Xinbi Guarantee — the Telegram-based Chinese marketplace behind these usernames and $24.2B in transactions since 2022.

🌀 Bug or feature?

Telegram now appears to allow more than 10 NFT usernames to be linked to a single account.

It is currently unclear whether this is an update or a bug. We were able to link 20 NFTs, after which the error “Sorry you can't activate more 10 usernames” appeared.

One user, @gaffer, managed to link 50 usernames.

Upd: It turns out Telegram has increased the limit to 20 usernames, while the case with @gaffer was a bug.

The news.ton domain was purchased by UQ...U9lt for $100,000 two years ago, but was not renewed today. It is now back on auction for the next 7 days.

🐳 The wallet UQ...U9lt is one of the largest holders of Telegram usernames and other NFTs. Its portfolio includes @nfts, @search, @xxxx, @photo, @exchange, the anonymous number +8888066, and other valuable assets. Its total trading volume exceeds 1.8M $GRAM.


🤔 Could this be another sign that .ton domains may never gain widespread adoption within the Telegram ecosystem? The discussion has gained renewed attention after Telegram applied for the .gram domain extension.

If the application is approved by ICANN, a billion Telegram users could get their own second-level domains.

The boss.ton domain, previously owned by crypto entrepreneur @deluxe, who was killed last year, has ended up at auction.

The last known sale of boss.ton was for $22,000 in 2024.


🔨 A few days ago, the domain was automatically put up for auction after its registration was not renewed.

🕊 Telegram continues to auction usernames that were previously unavailable

The auction for @jerry has just concluded, with all proceeds sent to an address associated with Fragment. What makes this case notable is that the username was previously unavailable on the platform.

😈 This is not the first such case in recent months. Telegram has now made several exceptions by putting previously unavailable usernames up for auction. One notable example was @devil.
