That “full” or “major” scholarship can still leave you unable to enroll if you don’t map the cash timing first 💸

1. Separate covered from due early.
Many awards reduce tuition, but your first payments may be outside the scholarship: enrollment deposit, visa fee, SEVIS/insurance equivalent, housing deposit, flight, and the first month of living costs.

2. Check the visa funding rule 📌
Some countries still require proof you can cover part of the cost even after aid. Your award letter helps, but it may not replace bank statements, sponsor letters, or liquid funds.

3. Build a 1-page “before arrival” budget ✅
List every payment due before classes start, the amount, deadline, who pays it, and what document proves it.

If one school gives more aid but needs more cash upfront, it may be less realistic than a cheaper-looking offer.

If your Part 2 answer sounds memorized, the problem is often this: you prepared sentences instead of time blocks. Use a 4-block map in the 1-minute prep 🧠

1. Write only 4 prompts:
who/where → what happened → one detail → why it stayed with you
No full sentences.

2. Add 1 micro-detail to each block ✍️
Not “it was interesting.”
Better: “rainy evening,” “my cousin laughed,” “I missed the bus,” “now I always remember…”
These details create speaking time naturally.

3. Speak block by block ✅
When one block ends, move forward. Don’t search for a perfect phrase.

Example cue card: Describe a memorable trip
with my brother / train to Kazan / lost charger at station / first trip I planned myself

Most IELTS practice fails for one reason: you finish a test, check the score, and move on. Useful review starts when you hunt for repeat mistakes, not bad questions. 📊

1. Open your IELTS dashboard and review the last 3 sections only.
Ignore older noise. Look for patterns like: T/F/NG confusion, matching headings traps, listening distractors, or writing task response drift.

2. Rename each mistake as a rule.
Bad note: Q18 wrong
Better note: I choose before reading all options

3. Keep one fix per pattern for the next test.
Example: Underline limit words first or Check if the answer is partial or exact. If the same mistake appears twice, it is now your priority, not your vocabulary list.

If you need serious funding, stop treating every scholarship page as the same thing. For international undergrads, need-based and merit-based money reward different evidence, so they should change where you apply and what you prepare. 🎓💸

1. Need-based: ask “Will this school assess my family finances for internationals?”
If yes, gather income docs, parent employment details, unusual expenses, currency context, and whether aid can meet full need or only part of it.

2. Merit-based: ask “What wins the award?”
Usually grades, scores, ranking, major fit, portfolio, or separate scholarship essays/interviews. Merit often has score thresholds or limited slots. 📌

3. Split your list into 3 folders:

merit-target
unlikely to fund me
This prevents wasting application fees on schools that admit internationals but rarely fund them. ✅

If your Speaking Part 2 dries up after 40 seconds, the fix is not a memorized template. Use a scene ladder: 4 tiny notes that force a natural story instead of copied phrases. 🧠

1. In the 1-minute prep, write only this:
setting / trigger / specific detail / why it mattered
Example for “Describe a useful skill you learned”:
school library / cousin showed me / color-coded notes / saved me before exams

2. Speak one step at a time.
Give each note 2–3 sentences. Don’t “cover all bullet points” first. Build the moment, then add the meaning. ✅

3. Add one concrete detail in the middle.
A place, object, short quote, or mistake makes you sound remembered, not memorized. 🎧

A big scholarship can still leave you unable to enroll. The mistake is reading the award as “problem solved” instead of checking cash timing and non-tuition gaps. 💸🎓

1. Separate billed vs upfront costs.
Tuition may be reduced by the scholarship, but you may still need cash first for an enrollment deposit, visa fee, SEVIS or residence permit costs, housing deposit, flight, and first-week expenses.

2. Check what the scholarship actually covers. 📌
Look for exact wording: tuition only, tuition + housing, or full cost of attendance. “Full scholarship” sometimes excludes insurance, meals, books, or summer fees.

3. Verify the visa funding rule. 🗂️
Some countries still require proof of funds for the uncovered amount, or for one full year, even after aid.

4. Build one number: money needed before arrival. ✅
If that number is impossible, the offer is not yet affordable—no matter how good the scholarship sounds.

If your Writing Task 2 keeps getting 6.5 for coherence, the problem is often not grammar. It’s this: each paragraph makes sense alone, but the logic between paragraphs is weak. 🧠✍️

1. Give each body paragraph one job
Before writing, label them in 3-5 words.
Bad: problems / more problems
Better: why this happens / what should change

2. Test the bridge sentence
Write the last sentence of Body 1 so it creates the need for Body 2.
Example: “Because the main issue is cost, the most effective response is public funding.”
Now paragraph 2 has a reason to exist. 📌

3. Ban “another point” paragraphs
If Body 2 could swap places with Body 1 and nothing changes, your structure is too loose.
