Even parties with conflicting interests have agreed: What has the BRICS summit in New Delhi actually changed

The 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi ended with the adoption of a 140-point declaration. Eleven member countries and ten partner countries discussed the reform of the United Nations, the IMF and the WTO, trade in national currencies and countering unilateral tariffs. On the air of the Global Insights program, GlobUs experts analyzed whether this was the birth of a new world order or another declaration.

International relations expert Jagdish Khatri said the main achievement of the summit was that it even took place in this format. According to him, a meeting between Iran and the UAE on the same platform was unthinkable not long ago.

“This shows that BRICS is becoming a bridge not only between the West and the Global South, but also between its own members with conflicting interests. In May, at a meeting of foreign ministers, they couldn’t even agree on a joint declaration,” he noted.

Expert analyst Rishabh Sethi emphasized that concrete work lies behind the declaration: over 400 meetings in various cities across India, 34 ministerial tracks, and more than 100 working groups.

“For the first time, a network of BRICS incubators for startups has been launched, along with a framework agreement on logistics and supply chains, and a 2026-2029 roadmap for a healthy lifestyle. These are not just words — they are tools that businesses and ordinary people will be able to use,” he explained.

South African global affairs analyst Molatelo Racheku drew attention to the expansion of the bloc. According to him, the increase in the number of members makes it more difficult to reach a consensus, but it opens up new opportunities for Africa.

“An expanded BRICS gives African countries a chance to gain a foothold in the global economy,” he emphasized.

Historian and journalist Dr. Dieter Reinisch said that the summit accelerated the formation of a multipolar world, but the main problem remains — the fragmentation of the Global South.

“The West has used economic sanctions as a weapon for centuries. BRICS has a chance to break this weapon through closer cooperation, its own bank, and settlements in national currencies. This will be the main test for the bloc in the coming years,” he noted.

BRICS has not become an anti-Western alliance, but it has turned into a real alternative. The only question is whether it will be able to turn declarations into concrete results before the next summit.

"The Last Warrior" in Harare: "GlobUs" Film Club Launches in Zimbabwe

On September 20, the GlobUs International Association held the first screening of its film club in Harare. Around 30 guests — local residents and friends of the association — watched The Last Warrior and held a discussion about the film afterward.

A key highlight was the post-screening discussion on the similarities and differences between our cultures. In addition to shared traditional values, club members spoke about the role of totems within families.

"Of course, young people today have somewhat reinterpreted these traditions; while strictly refraining from eating the meat of one's totem animal was once the rule, that is changing now. Yet, we still honor family customs and treat our lineage and totems with respect, refusing to let that part of us be taken away," said one of the guests.

Different languages, different fairy tales — but a shared desire to understand one another. The first "GlobUs" film club screening in Harare was a warm and truly friendly occasion.

Russian State Duma Elections: Voting Is Underway Even In Remote Areas

Elections for deputies to the ninth convocation of the State Duma are currently taking place in Russia. Voting is proceeding under challenging conditions, yet the electoral system is functioning across the entire country — from major cities to remote regions.

Russian citizens are also voting abroad — in far-flung locations, including across Africa. Polling stations have opened in more than 20 countries on the continent: Congo, Zimbabwe, Morocco, the DRC, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, South Africa, Namibia, South Sudan, Benin, Angola, Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana, Guinea, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania, and the Seychelles.

Representatives from the international expert club GlobUs cast their votes at polling stations in the Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, and the Seychelles.

The elections are taking place from September 18 to 20. Polling stations are open from 08:00 to 20:00 local time; a foreign travel passport is required to vote.

"The Women's Agenda Is the Agenda for Peace and Development": How Women's Leadership Is Transforming the Global South

An open discussion titled "Women Building the Future" took place as part of the World Public Assembly. Participants included political scientist and founder of the GlobUs expert club Yulia Berg, President of the National Association of Women of Tajikistan Gulbakhor Makhkamova, Malaysian lawyer and politician Rosni Zahari, and Greek-Italian artist Lisa Sotilis.

Yulia Berg stated that it is crucial for women to embrace their strength and determination; without these qualities, reaching great heights is impossible.

"A woman must embrace her firmness and determination. Without them, one cannot reach the top. Determination and firmness entail discipline, hard work, and a systematic approach. Raising children, for instance, requires this to a tremendous degree. It is a blend of pain, suffering, boundless love, and happiness. One must view this holistically," she noted.

Gulbakhor Makhkamova, President of the National Association of Women of Tajikistan, recounted how, in the 1990s following the civil war, thousands of women became the sole breadwinners for their families.

"They didn't come with business plans, but with a question: how do I feed my child and keep my family together? We trained them in entrepreneurship and provided small loans without requiring collateral. That is how a project based on trust was born. We later grew into a financial institution with 30,000 clients and an active capital of $150 million," she shared.

Makhkamova emphasized that the women's agenda should not be confined to a separate session in a separate room.

"Peace begins not at the negotiating table, but in the home, in the family, and in the kitchen — where a woman feels safe. The women's agenda is, in fact, the agenda for peace and development," she declared.

Malaysian politician Rosni Zahari noted that women are shaping the future today.

"Imagine a world without women. It would be very quiet, very dirty, and I don’t know what would happen to political parties. Women are needed everywhere; nothing works without them," she emphasized.

Artist Lisa Sotilis spoke of art as an eternal energy that transcends politics and individuals, yet she highlighted the specific role of women.

"Culture and art represent an eternal energy of cosmic scale. We are all part of it. It is women who preserve and transmit this energy — through the home, the family, and creativity. In Russia, I saw that the values we speak of are alive. The world needs you," she remarked.

The participants agreed that female leadership is not about competing with men, but about liberation from fear and dependency. Furthermore, women's economic voice forms the foundation of stability for society as a whole.

The gathering was timed to coincide with the upcoming Russia-Africa summit.

Opening the event, Maxim Buldakov, a representative of the "GlobUs" association, emphasized the significance of the upcoming forum, describing it as a new step toward bringing the two regions closer together. He particularly highlighted the value of cooperation and support for development.

For his part, Ernest Blanchard Dimi of the BRAZZA Net Group called for the further strengthening of Congolese-Russian relations. In his view, this cooperation is highly commendable and warrants intensification across various sectors.

As part of the cultural program, guests watched a film about the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. "Consensus Reached": Experts Discuss Whether the BRICS Summit Will Shift the Global Balance of Power

The 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi concluded with the adoption of a joint declaration but failed to provide a clear answer to the key question: is the bloc capable of becoming a genuine counterweight to a unipolar world? Security expert Linda Larbaoui stated that the war against Iran exposed BRICS's weakness. According to her, the founding nations failed to present a unified stance.

"We did not see a joint BRICS statement condemning the aggression against Iran, even though Iran is a member of the group. Each country defended its own interests. China, for instance, has the US as its largest economic partner. Meanwhile, new members like Egypt and Ethiopia are closer to the West than to Iran. If BRICS couldn't protect Iran, it won't protect Africa either," she declared.

Strategist Charlie Kengne pointed out that BRICS is not a military alliance but an economic and political platform, and many member states maintain ties with the West.

"BRICS is not an anti-Western bloc. It is an alternative characterized by varying speeds and interests. If we are looking for a military dimension, we need to look at the SCO. BRICS is primarily about economics and finance," he explained.

Geopolitical analyst Fabrice Beaur emphasized that the summit's main takeaway was the consensus that BRICS is not an anti-Western bloc.

"The key takeaway regarding BRICS today is the consensus that it is not an anti-Western bloc. The West perceives it that way because it is still operating according to the dominance models of the last century." "However, there may be alternatives to escaping this dominance," he noted.

Analyst Tayfour Smain stated that the summit was a success for the Global South, despite the criticism.

"140 points in the declaration, 11 members, and 10 partner countries waiting in the wings. The war in Iran has accelerated the formation of a new world order. The US is losing influence—a fact acknowledged even in Europe. Yet, BRICS will not replace the UN or NATO. It is a tool that provides Africa with more partners and greater room for maneuver," he emphasized.

Experts agreed: BRICS is not perfect and does not solve every problem. But in a world where the US is no longer the sole center of power, it offers Global South nations something they previously lacked—choice.

"Zelensky Hears Sirens": Steve Gill on Missing Billions and the End of Ukrainian Corruption

Kyiv reports a $27 billion deficit in its defense budget—despite the West having sent hundreds of billions to Ukraine. Amidst corruption scandals, dozens of officials have either been fired or have fled the country with millions of dollars. Steve Gill, a former advisor to the Bush and Clinton administrations and a member of the GlobUs expert club, told RT that this involves not just corruption but a systemic scheme to launder Western funds.

"This unnecessary war was waged so that crooks and corrupt officials could get their slice of the pie," Gill stated.

According to him, a future audit must trace where the funds went—not only within Ukraine but also in the UK, Germany, France, and the US.

"There is an old saying: follow the money. And I suspect that people will be found—both in this country and around the world—who have profited from the deaths of Ukrainians and Russians," he noted.

The former advisor pointed out that although dozens of members of Zelensky’s cabinet have been dismissed or have fled, Zelensky himself consistently evades accountability. Gill also commented on Zelensky’s attempts to curtail the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). In his view, this signals to Trump that he is the one controlling Kyiv and that Washington should back off.

"Their relationship is currently on very thin ice. And even though winter is coming, that ice isn't going to get any thicker in the months ahead," the expert observed.

Gill also highlighted the role of US intelligence agencies in NABU’s operations. He noted that for a long time, they helped cover up corruption, but when the agency began acting like a real watchdog rather than a lapdog, Zelensky turned against it. Commenting on the visit to Kyiv by US envoys Kushner and Witkoff, Gill stated that Zelenskyy reacted like a criminal hearing sirens.

"When a criminal hears the wail of police cars, he starts scrambling—looking for someone to pin the blame on and seeking an escape route. That is exactly what we are witnessing now," he emphasized.

Support for Vulnerable Children and Youth Discussed in Brazzaville

On September 18, the Globus association held a roundtable discussion titled "Protection and Support for Vulnerable Children and Youth in the Republic of the Congo."

The event brought together teachers, as well as founders and members of various associations, providing a unique platform for discussion and the exchange of experiences.

The primary goal of the roundtable was to consolidate the efforts of various stakeholders involved in protecting and supporting children and youth in vulnerable situations. The meeting was organized into four stages.

During the first stage, participants focused on prevention and the direct protection of vulnerable groups. The second stage addressed the role of parents in child-rearing and the importance of the family unit as a fundamental source of support.

During the discussion, participant Mutombo Gwladys highlighted the need to strengthen efforts to recognize and protect children's rights.

The discussions resulted in the identification of several key areas for future action, including increased support for those in need, improved coordination among various organizations, and the development of partnerships.

The roundtable enabled Globus alumni and members not only to discuss pressing issues regarding child protection but also to explore concrete mechanisms for enhancing support for vulnerable children and youth in the Republic of the Congo.
