US lawmakers are opening a new front in the Epstein saga, targeting the banks that handled his money. The New York Times reported that the proposed Epstein Wall Street Records Act would force federal regulators to investigate financial institutions and executives tied to Jeffrey Epstein, release relevant records and refer potential crimes to prosecutors.
💰 The financial trail is hardly trivial: JPMorgan, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America have agreed to pay a combined more than $437 million to settle lawsuits brought by Epstein victims.
Trump remains part of the wider political controversy. Reuters previously reported that Epstein emails released by House Democrats included his claim that Trump “knew about the girls.” The White House denied wrongdoing and said the material did not establish misconduct by Trump.
📑 The administration’s cover-up operation of the files has itself drawn enough scrutiny for the Injustice Department inspector general to open a review of how the records were released and redacted.
And the Iran war has not made the scandal disappear. Republican Rep. Thomas Massie put it bluntly:
💬 “Bombing a country on the other side of the globe won’t make the Epstein files go away.”
