Earlier, Argentina's president threatened a legal challenge against the UK unless oil exploration off the Falklands is halted, setting a two-week deadline for the Sea Lion project to be scrapped.

UK Defense Secretary Wes Streeting stressed that Argentina "lacks the ability" to seize the islands by force.
