Request changes to an offer (Part 1 of 2)

Note:
This feature is being tested and is not available to everyone or across all platform experiences yet.

When a client sends you an offer, it’s an exciting moment — but it’s not always the final step. If you’d like to see some adjustments to the offer terms before accepting, you can request changes. Here’s how the process works and what to expect.

🔸 What is the request changes option?

Choosing Request changes on an offer lets you suggest edits to key offer terms, creating a flexible negotiation process. Clients can accept or reject your requested changes, or make further modifications to it. The feature helps ensure clear communication and an efficient workflow while maintaining the original offer terms as a baseline throughout the process.

🔸 What you can request and when

▪️ Editable terms
You can propose changes to select offer terms, ensuring clarity and alignment on the project scope and payment details. This includes the following items:

▫️ Project type: You can request that the job be hourly or fixed-price
▫️ Payment amounts: For hourly contracts, you can enter an hourly rate, and for fixed-price contracts you can enter an amount
▫️ Payment schedule for fixed-price contracts: You can ask for the payment to be made all at once at the end of the fixed-price contract or broken into milestones
▫️ Other payment details: You can request scheduled rate increases or additional automatic weekly payments
▫️ Scope of work: You can request edits to the job description
▫️ Other contract details: You can request changes to the start date, contract or milestone due dates, the hourly limit on hours worked each week, and whether you can enter time manually
▫️ Attachments: You can add attachments to the offer, but you cannot delete the client’s attachments

▪️ Timing

▫️ 7-day offer period: Offers remain active and available for requested changes for seven days, but the timer resets each time a client sends a revised offer
▫️ One-hour limits: You can only send three requests within a one-hour window
▫️ Concurrent activity: You may not be able to make changes if the client is currently active in the offer, to help prevent overlapping requests and miscommunications
