Tonight, we open Emigration to the Future with a coffin in the sky.

At 18:00, Maxim Evstropov — artist, philosopher and founder of the Party of the Dead — opens the festival with Necro Kite Festival, a workshop and performance in the Lidl car park.

The performance grows from Russian cosmism, which imagined defeating death, resurrecting the dead and expanding human life into space. Evstropov turns that enormous promise into an absurd collective gesture: together, we will build a coffin kite and launch it into the Berlin sky.

The Party of the Dead works with necro-activism, Dadaist absurdity and black humour, confronting the political appropriation of death, memory and the future.
