We had an interview with
@targetdivision1, the founder of a media buying team that has been successfully operating in the market for two years. Read it below to learn how the team was built, key insights from years of experience, and their management approach.
How It All StartedBefore forming a team, I worked as a Facebook media buyer, sharpening my skills. Over time, I realized I couldn’t handle the workload alone, so I started gradually building a team—first 1-2 people, then 3, 5... That’s how we grew. We learned to collaborate, support each other, and operate as a unified system.
Training & ScalingWe are constantly evolving, solving challenges on the go. One of our best decisions was to create training materials and a knowledge base for new employees. This helps newcomers onboard faster and saves time for the entire team.
One of the biggest insights: hiring people from scratch only makes sense for very large teams or holding companies. If you’re not at that level yet, it’s too resource-intensive. That’s why we found an alternative: each buyer takes on an assistant, trains them independently, and gradually develops them into a full-fledged specialist. This eases the buyer’s workload while allowing the assistant to gain hands-on experience.
How Our Team OperatesCurrently, we have five buyers managed by a team lead. The team lead oversees operations, assigns tasks, and helps resolve challenges. My role is to find new growth opportunities and implement improvements.
Management & DisciplineTo keep everything running smoothly, we strictly follow these principles:
-
Clear reporting timelines – this ensures full transparency on ongoing tasks.
-
Task execution control – without it, nothing moves forward.
