🇬🇪 Why protests in Georgia have once again resulted in a victory for the ruling party

🌏 Friends, elections in Georgia recently took place. Our expert, political scientist Alina Eliseeva, prepared an analytical report on the results of the election campaign.

The primary challenge for Georgian Dream was to confirm its legitimacy and credibility as a ruling force in the face of a radical opposition that disagreed with the election results and aimed to destabilize the country's political situation.

Telegraph On the recent elections in Georgia On October 4, 2025, municipal elections were held in Georgia, with the ruling Georgian Dream party winning over 80% of the vote, securing victory in all 64 municipalities. However, the campaign itself became the party's first truly serious test since the…

🇨🇿 Irina Krasilnikova, political scientist and expert at the CIIC Center, spoke especially for the Telegram channel "Center for International Interaction and Cooperation" on the recent parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic.

The 2025 Czech parliamentary elections have become a significant marker of political transformation not only for the country itself but for all of Central Europe. The victory of Andrej Babiš's ANO movement, which secured 34.5% of the vote, demonstrated public fatigue with the primacy of ideology and a demand for more pragmatic governance.

The prospects for forming a stable government remain uncertain. Despite its clear victory, ANO failed to secure an absolute majority in parliament, necessitating partnerships with other political forces, such as the right-wing SPD and AUTO. The creation of a stable coalition will depend on Babiš's willingness to compromise and forge a joint agenda that combines pragmatic domestic reforms with a responsible foreign policy.

As the Czech Republic remains part of the Euro-Atlantic system, any abrupt attempts to change course could be perceived as a violation of its commitments to the EU and NATO. Babiš aims to achieve greater flexibility regarding migration, subsidies, and regulatory policy.

On the Ukrainian issue, a sharp reversal is also unlikely. While Babiš criticized excessive support for Kyiv, a reduction in military aid appears more probable than a complete withdrawal. The Czech Republic will likely maintain its participation in pan-European support mechanisms and its role as an arms producer, but will scale back its output and adopt more moderate rhetoric. This approach can be described as "pragmatic distancing," which entails maintaining sanctions against Russia while minimizing political risks and toning down an excessively confrontational stance.

Thus, the Czech Republic is embarking on a phase of "controlled pragmatism": if coalition building is successful, the new government will seek a balance between Washington, Brussels, and domestic demands for greater independence.

🌍 Turning Election Setbacks into Global Career Opportunities

This week, our "Horizons of Opportunity" program held its 11th lecture, focusing on election campaigns as a launchpad for a public political career.

We were thrilled to host Pavel Dubravsky, CEO of Dubravsky Consulting , who led participants through a hands-on workshop. Attendees were divided into groups to analyze three unique political cases and develop powerful career comeback strategies for candidates who faced electoral defeat.

🔹 Among the losing candidates were a public figure, an environmental blogger, and a candidate who received significant recognition but did not win the election. The groups proposed strategies for each candidate's potential future career development.

The groups crafted future development strategies for each, exploring crucial topics like:
📌Transforming online influence into tangible political power.
📌Leveraging a candidate's unique expertise to remain active in the political process.

The key takeaway? An election loss isn't the end—it's a critical learning moment and a strategic stepping stone to building a resilient and impactful political career.

What are the key ingredients for a successful political comeback? Share your thoughts in the comments! 👇

🌎 The "Nobel" scenario for Ukraine: why Washington might choose peace over victory

Discussions about Ukraine's future are reaching a new level. According to Western media cited by Gazeta.Ru, the Trump administration is increasingly talking about "Plan B"—finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. Here, a motivation that could change the outcome is coming to the fore: the prospect of a Nobel Peace Prize.

What does the Nobel Prize have to do with it?

Analysts believe that for Donald Trump, brokering a deal to resolve one of Europe's most protracted conflicts could become a personal "triumph" and the pinnacle of his foreign policy achievements. Such a historic success is precisely the case the Nobel Committee is considering for the highest award.

🌏 Our expert, American studies specialist Alexander Nazarov, participated in the discussion. Нe added that:

"It's worth recalling the story from 2010, when the prize was awarded to a Chinese dissident." After this, the Norwegian government spent several years trying to restore economic and diplomatic relations with China to the required level.

Essentially, the US administration faces a choice: continue to support the "victory at any cost" slogan, which is failing to produce results, or lead the peace process and reap the full credit for peacemaking.

"Plan B" is not just a fallback option. It is a potential strategy leading to geopolitical triumph and a personal historical legacy for key figures. And the Nobel Prize here is not just a medal, but a powerful symbolic incentive that could accelerate the search for a diplomatic solution.

🌏 Friends, we're currently preparing detailed materials for you on the results of the recent elections. Our expert, Alexey Malinin, discussed the main news items on the agenda.

— Vladimir Putin's Speech at the Valdai Forum

The Russian President's annual speech at the Valdai Forum traditionally became a major news item not only in Russia but also internationally, given that the discussion focused primarily on geopolitics. Analyzing his remarks, one can clearly note a consistent position on key foreign policy issues: Russia prioritizes resolving the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic means, but not at the expense of its own interests; Russia is prepared to normalize relations with the United States on a constructive and equal basis and rejects the groundless hysteria in Europe about a supposed "Russian threat." The desire to develop a multipolar world order and strengthen cooperation with non-Western centers of power was once again emphasized, which also demonstrates the consistency of Russia's position in the context of its foreign policy priorities.

— Parliamentary Elections in Moldova

The final results of the parliamentary elections in Moldova have been announced. It's noteworthy that even after their victory, the ruling authorities continued their attempts to weaken opposition representation: they attempted to strip the Democracy at Home party of the six mandates it had won in the election, citing allegedly non-transparent funding and suspicious activity on TikTok. However, the Constitutional Court upheld the results and merely limited state funding for a year.

Even though the elections are over, the ruling authorities should not relax. The European-oriented government has had to resort to an unprecedented number of pressure tactics on the opposition for a reason: significant contradictions and social polarization persist in Moldova. Another noteworthy detail: the OSCE/ODIHR report, while noting a number of unfavorable factors, generally recognizes the elections as valid, apparently believing that disqualifying opposition parties the day before and on election day is a perfectly appropriate practice, consistent with democratic standards. With the understanding that the 1.5% of votes withdrawn from the Greater Moldova party on election day, which were simply annulled, could have deprived the PDS of a simple majority in parliament.

— Municipal Elections in Georgia

The municipal elections held in Georgia over the weekend once again triggered destabilization of the domestic political situation. Following the ruling Georgian Dream party's clear victory, which garnered 80.78% of the vote in all 64 municipalities of the country, protests engulfed central Tbilisi. Moreover, the opposition, which had staged the protests due to what they considered illegitimate voting results, had chosen a boycott strategy before the elections. However, despite this logical contradiction, protests continued throughout Sunday, with cars and Russian flags being set on fire (what Russia has to do with this is an open question). As usual, the protesters were supported by European officials Kaja Kallas and Marta Kos, who stated that the elections had been held amid a "large-scale suppression of dissent." However, the Georgian establishment, represented by Prime Minister Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Papuashvili, had a response: the Prime Minister blamed the EU ambassador for the unrest in Tbilisi, while the Parliament Speaker said Georgia expects not accusations, but an apology for supporting those who attempted to overthrow the government. In any case, the organizers of the rally have been charged.

🌍 Expert Talk: Russia's Humanitarian Diplomacy in Focus

This week, we hosted an exclusive discussion with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leading experts as part of our "Horizons of Opportunity" program.

A big thank you to our keynote speaker, Konstantin Kolpakov, Head of the Department for International Sports, Youth Cooperation, and Tourism at the Russian MFA. He highlighted that Russia's public diplomacy is a cohesive system built on mutually beneficial partnerships, not just isolated events.

Here are the key takeaways:

✅ NCO Success Story: We discussed the most important skills and theories for any person who wants to walk the path of the international humanitarian projects. A great tip from the pro: project management, budgeting, IR 101 and the best practices from successful NCOs are your minimum.

✅ New Generation of Diplomats: Today's young diplomats are on the front lines of the digital space. Their mission? To champion a positive image of Russia through modern culture, tech, and by countering misinformation.

✅ Big Picture: Humanitarian work — through culture, education, and sports — is a strategic resource for Russia. By focusing on youth and digitalization, we're setting a new course for international engagement.

In short: It's all about building bridges for the future. 🤝

🇲🇩 Moldova's Dead End: How the "Most Democratic" Elections Went

The recent parliamentary elections in Moldova were expected to mark a breakthrough from the protracted political crisis. Instead, they merely cemented the divisions in society and left behind a trail of difficult questions for the current government.

How did the "democratic" government manage to maintain its majority after eliminating key competitors 48 hours before the vote? Why were international observers denied accreditation en masse, and why were Russian experts in the OSCE mission eliminated at the last minute? And most importantly, where will this country move now, with its fundamental problems only worsening?

🌏 Our expert, political scientist Alexey Malinin, has prepared a detailed analysis of how a new political reality has been created in Moldova before our very eyes. A reality in which the "right" parties suddenly have administrative resources, while their opponents face prison sentences.

🍂 The Geopolitical Parade of Sovereignties

We highlight the countries that gained independence in September.

The history of these countries cannot be understood without the context of their liberation. Each date is not just a holiday, but a diplomatic and strategic outcome that defined the nation's place in the modern system of international relations.

🇺🇿 September 1: Uzbekistan

Secession from the USSR (1991)

The collapse of the Soviet Union was not only an ideological but also a territorial collapse. Uzbekistan, finding itself within the borders inherited from the national demarcation of the USSR in the 1920s, faced a unique challenge: it became one of the few "double landlocked" countries in the world (along with Liechtenstein). This left its mark on its entire foreign policy, turning issues of transit, logistics, and multi-vector diplomacy into matters of national security.

🇻🇳 September 2: Vietnam

Declaration of independence from France and Japan (1945)

Diplomatic context: The Declaration of Independence, read by Ho Chi Minh, is a brilliant example of political and diplomatic swordplay. It begins with direct quotations from the American Declaration of Independence and the French Declaration of the Rights of Man. In this way, Vietnam not only appealed to universal values but also cleverly placed its former colonial powers and their allies in a position of moral responsibility, exposing the contradiction between their rhetoric and colonial practice.

🇧🇷 September 7: Brazil

Independence from Portugal (1822)

Historical paradox: Unlike the bloody wars of independence in the Spanish colonies, Brazil seceded relatively peacefully, proclaiming an empire led by the direct heir to the Portuguese throne. This is a unique case where the mother country was not conquered, but "moved" to the colony, and then the colony gently separated from itself. This shaped Brazil's unique path and its ambitions as a regional power, unclouded by a total break with the past.

🇲🇽 September 16: Mexico

Event: Beginning of the War of Independence from Spain (1810)

A symbolic gesture in politics: Mexico is a rare example of a national holiday commemorating the beginning of an armed struggle, rather than its victorious conclusion. The "Cry of Dolores" is a powerful symbol, invoked annually by the incumbent president, directly associating himself with the people's will for freedom. It is an instrument of national consolidation, where ritual is more important than a legal date.

🇸🇦 September 23: Saudi Arabia

Event: Unification of the Kingdom (1932)

The Diplomacy of Tradition and Modernization: Until 2005, Saudi Arabia barely celebrated a secular Independence Day, emphasizing religious holidays. The ruling dynasty's legitimacy had always been based on factors other than nationalism—Islam and tribal ties. The introduction of this holiday in the 21st century was an act of "quiet nation-building," an attempt to construct a new, secular rallying point for youth within the framework of the "Vision 2030" modernization strategy.

🇧🇧 September 30: Barbados

Event: Independence from Great Britain (1966)

Postcolonial Evolution: After gaining sovereignty, Barbados remained a Dominion within the Commonwealth for 55 years. However, in 2021, it took the final step, becoming a parliamentary republic. This decision is a significant trend in the contemporary postcolonial world, demonstrating a movement from formal to full symbolic and constitutional independence, redefining relations with the former metropolis on a new, equal basis.

🧠 Networking is not just "exchanging business cards," but the art of building trusting relationships.

Friends! We recently held a session on the art of networking as part of the "Horizons of Opportunities" program.

Many people think that networking is just about seeking immediate benefits. But in reality, it's a long-term investment in relationships, where the main currencies are trust and reputation.

🌏 We invited Maria Prokofieva – a political scientist, member of the "Digoria" expert club, and director of the "Center for International Interaction and Cooperation" – to share her expertise.

She shared key principles of effective networking with our participants:

🌐 Connections are a resource. Every person is a bridge to new opportunities.
🤝 Give first, then ask. Mutual benefit is the foundation of strong relationships.
💬 Be active and systematic. Maintain your contacts regularly: write, call, offer help.
👂 Listen more than you speak. Genuine interest in your conversation partner opens doors.

🇻🇳 We continue our discussion of ideology. This time, it's Vietnam's turn.

What were Ho Chi Minh's key ideas and what constitutes "flexible socialism"?

🌏 You'll find the answers to these questions in the text by our friends at @ogon_media (http://t.me/ogon_media), prepared by our center's experts, Ekaterina Plotnikova and Ivan Bubnov.

At that time, Vietnam made a turn in its foreign policy: it gradually emerged from isolation, normalized relations with China (1991), the United States (1995), and began actively joining international organizations (ASEAN in 1995, WTO in 2007). Today, Vietnam also pays close attention to relations with Russia and shares Moscow's approach to a multipolar world.

🌏 Maria Prokofieva, political scientist, expert of the CIIC Center, especially for the Telegram channel "Center for International Interaction and Cooperation".

Negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict rapidly gained momentum in August and almost as quickly reached their usual impasse. This was largely due to the expected sabotage by the Europeans. Trump, in an attempt to pressure Russia, imposed tariffs on India and Brazil and threatened China with the same, but ultimately only contributed to the political rapprochement of the BRICS.

Now, however, he understands the limitations of new sanctions against Russia and seeks to shift responsibility to Europe, urging it to stop purchasing Russian energy resources and impose tariffs on Asian trading partners. The weakened EU cannot afford this and finds itself in a vulnerable position: while calling on the US to pressure Russia, it is unable to deliver similar pressure.

Thus, the process has stalled, and Trump, who places great emphasis on top-level diplomacy, wants to try to revive it by initiating a trilateral meeting. Personal contacts play a significant role for him, often exaggerated: it's not for nothing that he has repeatedly emphasized that the mutual reluctance of the Russian and Ukrainian presidents to speak with each other is hindering peace.

The parties may indeed agree to such a meeting, but its results, beyond the flashy photos and news feeds, appear extremely limited. The question of Zelenskyy's legitimacy in signing any agreements remains open. Currently, there is no common understanding regarding security guarantees for either Ukraine or Russia, while the EU's position remains unchanged given the US's reluctance to fully withdraw from the conflict. As long as these preconditions remain, negotiations will not lead to a long-term, comprehensive settlement, which is the only acceptable form of resolution for Russia under the current circumstances.

🔥 Discussing the ideologies of former socialist countries

🌏 Our experts Ekaterina Plotnikova and Ivan Bubnov have prepared a piece for our friends at @ogon_media, sharing how Mongolia achieved its bloodless revolution and whether it has fully transitioned to a market economy.

✔️Since the bloodless revolution, a democratic regime and multi-party system have emerged in Mongolia. The government alternates between two leading parties: the left-wing People's Party and the right-wing Democratic Party. The current system expresses two key trends in Mongolian politics:

1️⃣ The desire to convert resource rents into social benefits through high taxes (Socialists);
2️⃣ Attracting foreign investment and fighting corruption (Democrats).

We have collected news from all over the world

🇫🇷 About 200,000 people took part in mass protests against Macron's anti-social policies

French Interior Minister Bruno Retaillo said that about 200,000 people took part in demonstrations against government policies across the country. Law enforcement agencies carried out about 50 operations to unblock roads, warehouses and other facilities, according to a statement from the French authorities.

🇺🇸 Conservative activist Charles Kirk shot dead during a speech in the US
Charles Kirk, 31, was a well-known figure in conservative circles. He hosted popular podcasts through which he often spread right-wing conspiracy theories about cultural Marxism and COVID-19, and criticized racial and sexual equality. Kirk is also known as the founder of the right-wing student organization Turning Point USA, which promotes conservative values in educational institutions.

🇻🇪 Venezuela President Maduro Activates Active Defense Plan for the Country
According to Nicolas Maduro, Caracas is "increasing its capacity to act in all cities of the country." Currently, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (BNA), the Bolivarian National Militia (BNM) and state security agencies are involved in the events.

In August, Washington sent a military squadron to the shores of South America to fight drug cartels. On September 3, the US President announced a strike on representatives of the Venezuelan group Tren de Aragua, allegedly involved in drug trafficking. Later, he threatened to shoot down Venezuelan planes if the US was threatened. The Venezuelan President said that the United States attacked the country under a far-fetched pretext in order to ultimately "seize natural resources".

🇵🇱 Drone attack over Poland. Warsaw considers invoking Article 4 of the NATO Charter
According to preliminary data, Poland recorded 19 airspace violations, which were targeted. The Prime Minister emphasized that for the first time since the beginning of the war, drones flew over Poland not from the territory of Ukraine, but directly from the territory of Belarus, which adds a new, more dangerous aspect to the situation. Countermeasures were taken after the threat was identified.

Article 4 states that the parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of either of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of either party is threatened.

🇨🇺 Second massive power outage in Cuba in a year
Cuba is experiencing a serious energy crisis that has led to massive power outages across the country. Fuel shortages, US sanctions and outdated thermoelectric power plants, many of which are more than 30 years old, have left millions of Cubans without power.

On social media X, the Ministry of Energy and Mines attributed the new incident to a malfunctioning thermoelectric power plant and said it was continuing to work to restore power. The Cuban archipelago has often experienced power outages, but they were short-lived and did not affect the entire territory.

Earlier this week, another blackout hit southeastern Cuba, leaving residents from Las Tunas to Guantanamo Bay without power for hours. In February, the government suspended classes and work activities for two days because of power shortages.

🌏 Pierre Kamina, political scientist, expert of the CIIC Center, especially for the Telegram channel "Center for International Interaction and Cooperation"

Gazprom and CNPC signed a memorandum on the construction of the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline, which was the result of several years of negotiations between Moscow and Beijing. Let us recall that last year the parties could not reach a consensus due to the lack of consensus on prices: China insisted on receiving a large discount, effectively equating export gas prices to domestic Russian tariffs, which effectively neutralized the economic benefit for Russia.

Nevertheless, on the sidelines of the SCO summit this year, in order to deepen the strategic partnership, Moscow and Beijing, against the backdrop of a complicated geopolitical situation and attempts to pressure from the US and EU, came to an agreement.

From China's side, the decision is explained by a long-term energy strategy. Despite the fact that, against the backdrop of tariff pressure from the United States, demand for gas and LNG declined in May-June 2025, and a significant portion of LNG import capacities is contracted until 2030, leading companies - CNPC and Sinopec - forecast consumption growth by 6% this year (up to 448-458 billion cubic meters).

Also, according to PipeChina, by 2030-2035, China's demand will reach 650-700 billion cubic meters, in connection with which China plans to commission almost 70 GW of new gas-fired power plants by 2030, for the guaranteed supply of which with gas at favorable prices, the implementation of the Power of Siberia-2 project is necessary.

For Russia, the project is no less important. In the context of sanctions pressure and a reduction in the share of Russian gas in Europe, Power of Siberia-2 is becoming a key export route. According to Deputy Prime Minister A.V. Novak, it should become a "replacement" for Nord Stream 2. In addition, the gas pipeline route will facilitate the internal gasification of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Irkutsk Region, which will contribute to the achievement of national goals in the field of social gasification approved by the President of the Russian Federation.

Thus, the memorandum becomes the first step in implementing the project as part of strengthening Russian-Chinese energy cooperation: China receives stable volumes of gas for the domestic market, Russia - predictable revenue from one of the key partners. However, the key challenge for Russia is to maintain a balance between the commercial component of the project and strengthening the political alliance: the need to maintain a fair pricing formula in the long term, not allowing Beijing, under the pretext of "friendship and partnership", to push through tariffs that will lead to the exploitation of infrastructure only in the interests of China.
