First session: Starting a Startup in the USA 🇺🇸

The CAU Business School Guest Speaker Series brings industry experts and international perspectives to our students.

Our first guest speaker is Medvis Brinkman Jackson Jr., Senior Manager at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC).

He will explore what it takes to turn a business idea into a startup in the United States — from choosing the right business structure to navigating the U.S. entrepreneurial ecosystem and finding the right support.

CAU Enters the TOP-1000 of the GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026

🎉 A new achievement for CAU!

CAU has ranked 833rd in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026, moving up 203 places compared to last year.

This year’s ranking includes 2,016 higher education institutions from 110 countries. The 2026 edition focuses on “Advancing Sustainable Campuses through Governance, Digitalization, and Integrated Performance,” highlighting the role of effective governance, digitalization, and integrated approaches in building sustainable campuses.

CAU’s result reflects its ongoing work in environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, waste management, green transportation, environmental education, and sustainable campus development.

Our highest scores were recorded in:
🌱 Energy & Climate Change — 1,325 points
🚎 Transportation — 1,237.5 points
🎓 Education & Research — 925 points

This achievement reflects CAU’s continued commitment to building a more sustainable and environmentally responsible university environment.

We are happy to announce that the HMT school is launching the Distinguished Guest Series: each session brings one super successful guest to the CAU campus. The guests will deliver a lecture, which is followed by a Q&A session. The sessions are also numbered, and this is the very first of its kind.

Our first Distinguished Guest is Dilfuza Samandarova, the General Director of Business Media Central Asia (BMCA), the official Messe Frankfurt partner in Central Asia. She has brought 10 Messe Frankfurt exhibition brands to Uzbekistan, and previously she was Director of the National PR-Center of Uzbekistan.

🇹🇷🤝🇺🇿 We are proud to welcome Dr. Abdullah Akpinar, a World’s Top 2% Scientist and Associate Professor at Central Asian University’s School of Architecture & Design.

Originally from Türkiye, Dr. Abdullah Akpinar has recently joined Central Asian University’s School of Architecture & Design, bringing his extensive academic and research experience to the university. He teaches Studio Fundamentals, guiding first-year students through the foundations of architectural design.

With 15 years of teaching and 18 years of research experience, Dr. Akpinar brings extensive expertise in design thinking, landscape architecture, and sustainable built environments. His research spans Forestry and Architecture, contributing to his recognition among the World’s Top 2% Scientists.

At CAU, his teaching focuses on creative thinking, the design process, context, communication, and practical skills, helping students develop purposeful and well-considered design solutions.

💙 Through a combination of theory and real-world practice, Dr. Akpinar encourages students to become analytical thinkers and confident designers.

🌍 UN World Tourism Day Workshop at CAU

To celebrate World Tourism Day, CAU’s School of Hospitality Management and Tourism brought together students and industry professionals for an inspiring day of learning, networking, and new perspectives.

The workshop featured guest speakers from leading organisations across the tourism and hospitality industry, including Avrud Travel, TourismLab, Central Asian Expocenter (CAEx), Amirsoy Hotel & Ski Resort, and Hilton Tashkent City.

Throughout the workshop, students explored a wide range of topics — from international travel and sports tourism to exhibitions, destination development, year-round tourism, and hospitality marketing.

It was a great opportunity to hear directly from industry experts, exchange ideas, build connections, and gain a deeper understanding of the many opportunities within the tourism and hospitality sector.

The event also included a coffee break and networking session, giving students and guests a chance to connect in a more informal setting.
