From 92 Percentile in JEE to ₹32 LPA at Visa — Never Give Up on Your Dream

Hii everyone

So my 7th sem is about to end and i wanted to share my story as i think it will help many people in time like this (placements)

So for the background i am from West Bengal, Kolkata

My family is not very well with finance but have just enough to live

From the childhood i was very interested in engineering but i knew that i need to crack jee main atleast so that i can get into NIT as i couldn't afford a good private college

I think my family's finanaces started getting better after 2019 and in 2023 i was not able to gt good percentile in j e e (i scored 92) as i was in general category and i studied from PW online course so there was no option of getting any College, and same with my 4 other friends and i was given a reality check of my level

I studied rigorously every fucking day but i think this was my limit and i thought of abandoning my dream and prepare for government exams

But my parents had other plans they were saving up a bit for my education and encouraged me to get into a good college in comedk

So i followed their wish and was literally crying so much at that time as i knew they had to make so many sacrifices to save those money and offcourse even that wasn't enough so my father took some money from relatives and aome here and there i don't know abot that yet 😞

All my friends too decided to get through comedk and we went to a laptop shop to buy a laptop for me. As i knew my financial situation and had reasearched a bit about laptops and requirements for college i decided to buy a laptop of 33k rs and my friends were buying laptops of much better specs and i was able to see on my father's face how disappointed he was on himself that he couldn't afford a better one but i hugged him and told that this is enough for me and at that fucking day i realised just how much money matters in a human life

So from day 1 of my college i started DSA in java and mern stack , from 2nd year i was comfortable in dsa now and started ML

I was able to earn up a bit through wining hackathons and gaining experience

So finally in 4th year , 7th sem i was rejected 6 timses in hr round. It was so confusing as people with no tech knowledge were getting shortlisted at the same stage as mine but not me

I worked harder and cracked TCS prime offer 9lpa

My college placement were very bad after 2024 so i knew I can't be picky now

But i was really disappointed in myself and my luck

I was fucking ridiculed in whole college that after all that aura shit i got into TCS

But i believed i will definitely get better offer

I kept practicing dsa and from grace of god got an interview opportunity in a company for SDE they were giving 32 lpa (highest compared to any on campus offer, an this was an off campus opportunity) in Visa

I cracked it and talked with TPO to reject TCS offer

The faces of those placement coordinators fuckers was something to enjoy at that time. No one in the whole college was able to face me and not even now and that is the best feeling i m having after the seeing the happiness of my parents and their sacrifices for me

I have finally reached my first goal of my life after all these grinding

And i think if i was able to do who couldn't even crack jee then anyone can achieve their dreams

So thanks for reading my worthless story 🙏

fuckass assignments bro

im in 2nd year of civil engineering in private uni near me and mfs require u to write all assignments by hand and turn them in physically i thought shit would be easier in college as i see a lot of people who can write their assignments digitally and submit like that aswell but this is just pain

and shit isnt even actually helpful because its basically just question answers from a chapter of the curriculum and they are direct questions regarding any topic, nothing that would make u apply what you learn to approach the question straight up school rattafication bs

this is not how i wanted college life to be bc 😢🖕😂😂👌

I wasted my entire career. I'm a loser that shouldn't exist.

M22 , CSE final year, tier 3 college

I feel like i have wasted my entire career. I'm in final year of my college with no good skills or project. I wasted 3 years of my college life doing nothing but procrastination. Some student in the 1st or 2nd year might have better skills than me. It's all my fault and there's is no one else to blame but me.

All i did was just study 5 days before the examination through Chatgpt (not books) and pass the semester somehow. Currently I have 7.3 CGPA and thats it. I've forgotten the concepts and knowledge of core subjects like DBMS, Computer Networks and operating system. It all feels like I've just cramped up the syllabus a night before and vomitted it out in exam.

My communication skills are really bad as well. I just cant speak to other person properly, even in my mother tongue (hindi) as well. I always end up stuttering in between. I exhibit symptoms of ADHD and OCD which makes it 10 times worse.

My class 12th percentage was just 61% wnd because of that i was not allowed to sit in many campus placements. I have give online assessment of 3-4 companies and got rejected in the first round. I could have passed it with cheating but decided not to do so.

I've recently started doing DSA and Web development just a month ago but i feel like im too behind everyone. And with the advancement of AI every month, its difficult to keep up. I feel like im way too behind industry standards.

I haven't made a single friend in college and mostly spent my time sitting alone while attending stupid lectures just to keep 75% attendance. I don't even have anyone with whom i can ask for guidance and other queries. My poor communication skills and lack of confidence makes it really difficult to approach and talk to any senior or even students of my own batch. I hate myself.

There are other problems as well that's going on with my life but i dont want to discuss it here. All this makes me feel like I would not make it. The dreams that i once desired as a kid no longer can be fulfilled. I'm constantly getting depressing and suicidal thoughts. I dont even know if switching to other fileds would make any difference and i don't have any talent either. It all just feeling depressing and hopeless. I'm constantly getting suicidal thoughts since last year.

Should I apply for 1 yr internship?

Bosch has come to our college for internship but it's 1yr. Stipend is 40k. Conversion is 16LPA.
Role is AI ( that's all they have given in jd)

Should I apply? Caveats are i won't be here for 4th year, and can't sit for placements next yr as I won't be here.

Anyone know anything about bosch ? Ppo conversion rate? Itd be great help. Thanks!

i don't know where I m heading in life

I did schooling, was a good student, always came in the top 5 of my class, but my 12th was so bad it shattered my confidence. After that, 1 year gap , then I did college from a tier 69 college. Learned nothing, passed with a 7.8 CGPA. Now 2½ years have passed, I am jobless, no knowledge of any domain, can't write a single line of code. I know I can do something, but I have been just worrying about things for the past 7 years, and honestly, I think I learned nothing after my schooling. Once a good student, praised by teachers, facing an identity crisis now. Also, I feel so bad about my parents...
