🚨 LABOR FINALLY ORDERS CRACKDOWN ON 77,700 UNLAWFUL MIGRANTS

The Albanese government is expanding Australian Border Force field operations to track down people living in Australia without a valid visa, as Labor unveils its long-delayed migration overhaul today.

Home Affairs data puts the unlawful non-citizen population at about 77,700, including 25,800 people who had been without lawful status for more than a decade.

Labor is also tightening temporary visa rules as it tries to reduce net overseas migration from around 300,000 to 225,000 by 2028.

🚨 TWO NSW FOOTBALLERS FOUND GUILTY OF RAPING 18-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

Scone Thoroughbreds rugby league players Hayden Topliss, 37, and Ryan Hawkshaw, 27, have been found guilty over the rape of an 18-year-old woman at Scone in 2023.

The Newcastle District Court heard the woman repeatedly said “no” and “stop” during the assault. Both men claimed the encounter was consensual, but the jury rejected their defence and found them guilty on all charges after one day of deliberations.

Their bail has been revoked and both are now in custody ahead of sentencing in November.

⚠️ SYDNEY HOUSING DOWNTURN HITS NSW REVENUE

NSW residential stamp-duty revenue fell 24% year-on-year in August, as property sales dropped 18%.

Sydney home values are now more than 7% below their peak, while the NSW government expects to collect around $5.3 billion less in stamp duty over the next four years as the housing slowdown continues.

⚠️ NEW HOME SALES FALL SHARPLY ACROSS AUSTRALIA

New home sales fell 10% in August and 19.3% over winter, with sales now 7.7% lower than a year ago, according to the HIA.

Victoria recorded the biggest winter decline at 27%, followed by Queensland at 20.2% and NSW at 17.5%.

🚨 ONE NATION FLAGS CUTS TO FAMILY VISAS IN EXPANDED MIGRATION CRACKDOWN

One Nation says it is open to cutting Australia’s permanent family visa intake, including visas used to bring partners and dependent children into the country.

MP David Farley says the number should depend on whether Australia has enough housing, healthcare and education infrastructure to support further population growth.

It comes after One Nation unveiled plans to cut temporary migration by roughly 750,000 over three years, with its full immigration strategy due within the next fortnight.

Professor Robert Breunig, a migration expert who sits on the Albanese government’s Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee, has backed parts of One Nation’s new immigration policy.

Breunig supports cracking down on visa-hopping and reducing low-quality international student intake, even as Labor attacks One Nation’s broader plan to cut the temporary migrant population by around 750,000 over three years.

🚨 AUSTRALIAN FATHER AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN FOUND DEAD IN BALI

Australian man Damien John Shaw, 56, and his children, aged six and four, have been found dead inside their family bungalow in Kuta, Bali.

The children’s mother, who was in Jakarta, raised the alarm after hearing one of the children crying during a phone call before contact with the family was lost. Neighbours later forced their way inside and discovered the bodies.

Indonesian police are investigating the deaths as a suspected murder-suicide, while CCTV and forensic evidence are being examined.

🚨 LABOR APPOINTS FORMER LIBERAL LEADER SUSSAN LEY TO SNOWY HYDRO BOARD

Energy Minister Chris Bowen and Finance Minister Katy Gallagher have appointed former Liberal opposition leader Sussan Ley to the board of the government-owned Snowy Hydro.

Ley resigned from Parliament in February after losing the Liberal leadership. Just seven months later, she has now been handed a board role by the Albanese government.

For everyone who keeps talking about a “uniparty”, this one probably won’t help.

⚠️ VICTORIA POLICE RUNNING ARABIC ADS TO RECRUIT NEW OFFICERS

Victoria Police is running Arabic-language recruitment advertisements telling bilingual Arabic speakers they may be “more suited to work in Victoria Police than you think.”

The force is actively targeting multilingual applicants and even offers additional pay to officers who use languages other than English while on the job.

🚨 POLICE RENEW APPEAL OVER UNSOLVED MURDERS OF THREE CHILDREN

NSW Homicide Squad detectives have renewed their appeal for information into the murders of Colleen Walker-Craig, 16, Evelyn Greenup, 4, and Clinton Speedy-Duroux, 16, who disappeared from Bowraville within five months in 1990 and 1991.

Colleen’s body has never been found, while Evelyn and Clinton’s remains were discovered in bushland. Separate $1 million rewards remain in place for information that helps solve each murder.

🚨 ONE NATION UNVEILS PLAN TO CUT 750,000 TEMPORARY MIGRANTS

Pauline Hanson has unveiled a three-year immigration “reset” that would cut more than 750,000 temporary migrants and unlawful non-citizens, mainly targeting international students, graduate visas, skilled-worker dependants and bridging visas.

Under the plan, Australia would temporarily move to net-negative migration, before net overseas migration is capped at 130,000 a year. People living in Australia unlawfully would be given three months to leave voluntarily or face enforcement and a potential lifetime re-entry ban.

🚨 SIXTH MELBOURNE MAN CHARGED IN ISIS PROPAGANDA NETWORK

A 30-year-old Roxburgh Park man has been arrested at Melbourne Airport while departing on a flight bound for the Middle East, becoming the sixth man charged in an AFP investigation into an alleged ISIS propaganda network.

Police allege devices seized from his home contained ISIS-inspired violent extremist material and that he was part of a group chat with the other accused men. He also allegedly refused a court order to unlock his electronic devices, an offence carrying up to 10 years in prison.

The AFP says the alleged network shared graphic extremist material including beheadings, shootings and bombings.

👀 MELBOURNE BOOKSTORE OPENLY REFUSES TO STOCK WHITE AUTHORS

@Auspill has visited Amplify Bookstore in West Melbourne, a self-described “anti-racist” bookstore that openly refuses to stock books written by white authors.

Despite its race-based stocking policy, Amplify received $11,250 in funding from the City of Melbourne in 2024-25.

⚠️ AUSTRALIAN BOND YIELDS SURGE TO 15-YEAR HIGH

Australia’s 10-year government bond yield has surged above 5.3%, its highest level since May 2011.

Wall Street strategists have previously described around 5% on the US 10-year as the point where markets can “start to break”. The US yield is now also hovering just below that level.

Higher yields flow through to mortgages, business borrowing and asset prices as investors demand greater returns to lend money.

🚨 18-YEAR-OLD DRONE OPERATOR CHARGED WITH MURDER OVER BOTCHED SYDNEY HIT

An 18-year-old alleged drone operator has been charged with murder over the killing of Joshua Macdonald, 40, an innocent electrician mistakenly gunned down outside a Merrylands West home on September 2.

Macdonald had arrived with two young children when gunmen in a stolen grey Audi opened fire. His family says he shielded the children as shots were fired. Police sources say the intended target was a member of the Alameddine crime family linked to the property.

Police arrested the teenager in West Hoxton on Friday and seized a drone which they allege contained evidence linking him to the killing. He has been charged with murder and participating in a criminal group and was refused bail.
