Requests dropped under load, and the proxy took the blame

💬 A data team was scraping marketplaces: one port ran several parallel data-collection threads. As the number of threads grew, some requests started timing out. Everyone blamed the proxy.

🔍 What we found:

One port holds up to 250 concurrent TCP connections. The automation opened more – the extra ones queued up and dropped. The proxy was fine; the problem was the configuration.

⏩ What we did: Spread the threads across several ports, within the limit. The timeouts were gone.

Right geo, wrong market

💬 A media buyer was checking competitor creatives for a specific country. The IP was from that country, but the results showed a different market.

🔍 What we found:

An IP "just from the country" landed in one region, while the target market sat in another. On top of that, with the residential pool the city changed on every rotation – each check ran from a new location.

⏩ What we did: Set the country → city → ISP chain. The results now match what the local audience sees.

Accounts got banned in batches, even though each had its "own" proxy

💬 A media buying team assigned a separate residential IP to each of its 40 profiles. Right type, matching geo, unique addresses. A few days into the campaign, mass bans.

🔍 What we found:

The problem was behavior, not the IP. Every port ran on the same rotation interval, and all profiles were launched at the same time – IPs changed in sync, actions ran from the same script. To an antifraud system, 40 accounts changing IPs at the same moment read as automation, not 40 real people.

⏩ What we did:
▪️ set a separate rotation interval for each port;
▪️ staggered profile launches over time.

💡 Takeaway: a separate IP per account is half the solution. The other half is making sure accounts don't behave identically.
