sabre414The 'Devil's Horns' phenomenon is a rare optical effect that occurs during solar eclipses, particularly when the moon partially covers the sun, leaving two glowing points that resemble demonic horns piercing the sky. It is best observed at sunrise or sunset, and is the result of atmospheric refraction over water. The phenomenon is scientifically known as the 'Etruscan vase' effect. The Sun's altitude was too high above the horizon to capture the 'Etruscan vase' effect in my image.This is my interpretation of the 'Devil's Horns' during the partial Solar Eclipse of 12 August 2026, and was imaged from Swansea, Wales, where we witnessed a 93.4% partial eclipse.
