🇨🇳 Ping An Sets Bank AI Rules
Ping An Bank, a Shenzhen-listed lender, became the first listed Chinese bank to formally adopt internal rules for artificial intelligence use after its board approved AI management measures, the bank said in a filing. The measures follow a regulatory push for stronger oversight, though the full rules have not been made public.
The framework places AI oversight under the board’s strategy committee and introduces controls across development and deployment, including data security, algorithm risk, ethics review and responsibility tracing. It implements June guidelines from China’s National Financial Regulatory Administration, which make banks and insurers accountable for the AI systems they use and require board-level supervision; all 42 A-share listed banks referenced AI in interim reports this year.
Ping An Bank said it had deployed more than 450 large-model AI use cases by end-June across marketing, investment advice, compliance and risk control. Other mainland lenders are expected to issue similar governance frameworks as regulators tighten oversight of AI adoption in finance.
