🇿🇦 Just in: The ANC gave the government the mandate to withdraw from the Rome Statute, which established the International Criminal Court.

The ruling party's national executive committee (NEC) agreed at its meeting last weekend that Russia's president cannot be arrested in South Africa while an ANC government is in power, said secretary general of the ANC, Fikile Mbalula, at a news conference on Tuesday.

"The NEC has given the government the mandate to continue the process."
