🇳🇬 Nigeria’s Supreme Court suspends Friday deadline for cash swap
Nigeria’s Supreme Court has prevented the government from enforcing a Friday deadline for citizens to swap old banknotes for new ones as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) flagged disruptions to trade and payments. The court took into account the problems in the exchange process.
On February 15, 3 states must file a lawsuit claiming that the exchange plan creates hardship and instability before the presidential election, which is scheduled for February 25. After that, a new deadline will be set for cash surrender.
