🇰🇪 Kenya court reversal threatens fallout from Safaricom stake sale

Kenya’s Safaricom stake sale is becoming a potential fiscal and foreign-exchange challenge after courts ruled against the divestiture, raising the prospect that the government could be forced to unwind a transaction that has already been completed. The case concerns the sale of a state stake in Safaricom, Kenya’s leading telecom operator.

The ruling creates pressure for President William Ruto’s administration as it could affect budget planning and foreign-currency flows linked to the deal. Safaricom is one of Kenya’s most important listed companies and a major source of investor interest in the Nairobi market.
