🇪🇹 Government forces seize capital of Ethiopia's Tigray region from rebels

Ethiopian government forces and allied militias have regained control of Mekelle, the capital of the Tigray region, according to three sources cited by Reuters on Sunday. The move marks a major setback for the opposition alliance that rules the northern region.

Tigray has been at the centre of repeated conflict between federal authorities and regional forces in northern Ethiopia.
