🇨🇮🇲🇱 Côte d’Ivoire and Mali agree final border demarcation

Ivorian and Malian officials agreed on 25 August in Bamako on the final demarcation of their shared border and a draft treaty setting out its legal framework, in a move signalling renewed engagement between Côte d’Ivoire and the Sahel states despite recent political tensions.

The agreement comes as trade links are helping ease a diplomatic freeze between Abidjan and the Alliance of Sahel States, which includes Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger after their break with ECOWAS. The article was published on 30 September 2026.
